Intended to protect, but designed to adorn, this slender gold ring updates the ancient appeal of turquoise with a modern finish and setting. Crafting talismans to ward off the evil eye has been the provenance of jewelers and artisans dating back to ancient Mesopotamia, but designer Monica Ruzansky has made the age-old charm her eye by elongating the eye shape until it takes on a new and abstracted appearance. The use of turquoise recalls the beads worn by Syrians, but a minimal setting makes this old stone new all over again. With a matte finish throughout, this ring proves that looking back is sometimes the best way to make something modern. Made in the U.S.A.
